sewing, crocheting, knitting and geeking in Montreal

Ok I think I’ve hit some kind of milestone here: 60th post, 50 followers, following 140 blogs, 2013 posts liked…
I haven’t posted much lately, very busy with work and trying to find a new place. And also I hurt my right hand 5 months ago and haven’t fully recovered yet, making it harder to crochet/knit/sew/do anything. Still, I’ve completed the Brittany Scarf from Divine Debris in a lovely chunky beige and I’ve sewn a cozy for my boyfriend’s e-book. There are also many things I haven’t posted yet, and way more that I want to start.
2013 have been a great year so far, and will be even greater when we move to our new condo in a month :) Once we’re all settled, I will start a makeover of this blog! Over the past year, I’ve learned how Tumblr works, and I want to fully embrace it, without confusing my friends and family, who just care about what I make. So I will rename this blog in something like “Calen Gallivants” to reblog everything awesome I encounter on my dashboard, and create another blog which will keep the name “Calen Crafts” for publishing my own achievements.
I hope you’ll keep following me in this adventure!
Looking forward to being back on Tumblr,
Calen

Trying to decide between 2/2 and 2/1 ribbing for my mittens…
One way or the other, I love this shiny yarn!

Thanks for following back :) I’m so glad you like my blog!! I do my best to update it with all the nice stuff I make…

I would love to discuss crochet with you, anytime!

  • Answer:

    Thank you very much :)

Eating pizza, drinking beer and teaching a friend how to crochet :)

Saturday afternoon crocheting!

A couple of friends just had a baby boy, so I needed to make a nice crocheted gift for him!

I finally chose a baby boots pattern from Repeat Crafter Me, with some minor modifications. It has been really quick and fun to make, and even more fun to choose big wooden buttons to decorate them!

Little Baptiste seems to appreciate them ;)

Happy new year! I’m back on Tumblr after a week of vacation, with the resolution of putting more of my stuff on my blog in 2013!

So here’s the phone cozy I made for my sister a couple months ago. Long story short: she’s had the same phone for like 10 years, protecting it in a cozy I made in dark blue polar fleece, embroidered with a Smurfette (her nickname at university).

When she decided to get a new phone, she needed a new phone cozy! I crocheted a pale blue one, and backstitched a new Smurfette on it (I wanted to surface crochet it at first but the drawing was too detailed for the size of the cozy).

I’m very happy with the way it looks, and she loved it, so mission accomplished!
